Efficiency. It is the top need of all businesses. Lacking in this key skill will eat up resources, time and money, and it is the easiest way to tick off customers and clients.
“Inefficiency is a slow drain on your company’s lifeblood,” said Inc. Contributor Vanessa Nornberg. Thankfully, she has shared “5 Fixes for Your Worst Productivity Mistakes.” Here are our top three from her list:
- Give your employees the right tools. – What productivity tools does your team need to do their job? Clearly define this and make an investment! Cheap, shoddy solutions will end up costing you more than you think.
- Do things now rather than later. – It is easy to get sidetracked or overwhelmed. Make sure employees prioritize their To Do list in terms of the number of people reliant on their work. This helps everyone in the office make the best use of their time.
- Don’t “pass the buck.” – If you can do it yourself, just do it. As a lead, make sure everyone has the skills and authority to solve common workplace problems. As Nornberg said, “Inefficiency happens any time more than one employee has to look at the same issue.”
