2014: A Great Year for Upstate Manufacturers

Across the Upstate, manufacturing companies were set to spend $3.95 billion building or expanding their facilities in 2014.

keergroupThe Upstate SC Alliance, a regional economic development organization, says this capital investment total was the highest its service territory has proclaimed since it began keeping records in 2007.

And the Upstate SC Alliance president John Lummus hopes the Upstate economy will fare just as well this year.

“I feel everything’s going in the right direction, both locally and statewide,” Lummus said.

Just last year in Greenville County alone, companies announced more than $476 million worth of capital investment and over 1,300 jobs.

And with reports recently released from the Institute of Supply Management showing U.S. manufacturing continuing to expand across the country, 2015 investment announcements are only expected to improve.
