In an exciting development for Greenville County’s manufacturing sector, Proper Polymers, a supplier to large Tier 1 integrators, announced plans to build a new facility in Greenville’s Matrix Park. The $15.45 million facility will manufacture injection-molded components for the automotive industry and bring 87 jobs to Greenville County.
The 50,000-square-foot facility, expandable up to 100,000 square feet, will begin hiring this summer. The majority of the hires won’t occur until later in 2017. The plant will begin operations in October 2016.
This facility is another example of the ripple effect that’s set into motion by original equipment manufacturers. It all began when BMW opened its plant in Greer. Magna Decostar then came to fill a supply need at BMW, and Proper Polymers is now poised to supply Magna.
This cycle is one reason the Upstate’s manufacturing sector has enjoyed strong growth in recent years. It bodes well for the area’s economic future.
One of the joys of working in Greenville has always been the way local businesses rely on each other and work together to do great things. It’s inspiring to see that tradition continue in the manufacturing sector.
Welcome to the family, Proper Polymers!
